Chowder is any of a variety of soups based around seafood. Many nations have their claim to its origins - the French, the Brits and the Americans. New England's claim is strong with the Breton Fishermen, who would throw portions of the days catch and other available foods into a large pot, thus forming a fresh soup and introducing us to the word 'Chowder'.
